  • Natural tooth structure preserved wherever possible

  • Non-toxic materials chosen with your whole health in mind

  • Care coordinated with the rest of your medical team

Dental Services We Offer

We take a whole-body approach to dentistry, where your mouth, your overall health, and how you feel every day are all connected. Located in Southwest Las Vegas, our practice offers everything from routine cleanings and gentle care to non-toxic fillings, conservative smile enhancements, and natural healing treatments that work with your body instead of against it. Dr. Lam practices conservatively and honestly, which means she only recommends what is truly needed, gives you a full unhurried hour as a new patient, and always preserves as much of your natural tooth as possible. Whether you have been searching for a dentist who thinks beyond just the tooth, want a second opinion you can trust, or simply want to be treated like a person, we would love to be that place.

What OUR PaTIENTS are saying

MEET OUR DOCTOR

Dr. Lisa Lam

Dr. Lisa Lam's path into dentistry started earlier than most. As a high school junior, her mom volunteered her at a local dental office, and she began at the very bottom, cleaning floors and sterilizing instruments. Over the years that followed, she worked nearly every role in a dental practice before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2008 and completing her hospital residency at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx. That ground-up experience shaped how she leads today. She knows what every person on her team is responsible for because she has done their job herself.

After years of practicing conventional dentistry, Dr. Lam found herself searching for more. When her own children faced chronic health challenges, she began studying the connection between the mouth and the rest of the body, and the more she learned, the harder it became to keep practicing the way she had been trained. She joined the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine, pursued additional training, and eventually opened Essential Dental so she could practice the way she believed dentistry should be done. Her approach is conservative and honest. She preserves as much of your natural tooth as possible, uses mercury-free, fluoride-free, and BPA-free materials, and only recommends what is truly needed.

What patients notice most is that she actually listens. New patient consultations run a full hour because the people who find her usually have a real story to tell, and she wants to hear all of it before making any recommendations. She works alongside functional medicine doctors and other providers to keep your whole health in view, and she holds herself to a standard she describes simply: she cannot rest until she knows the work was done right. Dr. Lam is a proud member of Spear, CDOCs, and the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a biological dentist, and how is Essential Dental different?

A biological dentist looks at your mouth as part of your whole body, not as something separate from your overall health. At our Las Vegas practice, that means using mercury-free, fluoride-free, and BPA-free materials, choosing the most conservative treatment that solves the problem, and coordinating with your other healthcare providers when it helps. Dr. Lam is a member of the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine and built Essential Dental around this whole-body approach.

Is there an alternative to a root canal?

Sometimes, yes, and it depends on whether your tooth is still alive. If the nerve is still healthy and responding, there may be a gentler option that helps the tooth heal and protect itself, so you keep a living tooth instead of a treated one. Not every tooth qualifies, which is why Dr. Lam checks each one carefully before recommending anything, but you are always allowed to ask whether an alternative is possible.

Do you offer second opinions on treatment plans?

Yes. If you have been told you need a crown, a root canal, or extensive work and something does not feel right, you are welcome to come in for an honest second look. Dr. Lam will review your situation, explain what she sees in plain language, and help you understand all of your options before you commit to anything permanent.

What does mercury-free, fluoride-free, and BPA-free actually mean here?

Many offices that call themselves fluoride-free simply skip the topical treatment at the end of a cleaning. At Essential Dental, it goes further: the fillings, bonding agents, and cements placed inside your mouth are chosen with those same standards in mind. This matters most for patients with sensitivities or autoimmune conditions, and for anyone who simply wants to know what is going into their body.

Do you take dental insurance?

We are a fee-for-service practice, which means we do not bill insurance as a primary form of payment, but we will file your claim as a courtesy if you have coverage. We also work with CareCredit and Cherry for financing, and we always discuss costs with you before any treatment begins, so there are no surprises.

How long is a new patient appointment?

New patient visits are scheduled for a full hour, rather than the rushed 10 to 15 minutes that has become standard elsewhere. The patients who find us often have a long history and real questions, and we want the time to listen, understand your whole picture, and make thoughtful recommendations rather than fast ones.
